Shana Marie Gilbert, veteran English teacher, documentarian, and now, debut author. Shana is a Colorado native who originally made her start in Hollywood as a screenwriter, then an actress, and then a producer. Shana’s first feature documentary is now known as “the largest independent rock concert in history”. She then headed to Africa to produce and direct the award-winning, White Wanderer (aka. Mzungu), @whitewanderermovie. It was in Kampala, Uganda where Shana met a tiny street girl named Jesca who would soon change her life forever. Now releasing her newest work, Raising Jesca, about an abandoned street kid, a literature teacher, and an unbelievable encounter that changed everything.
